Satin Pillowcases: My Hair and Skin’s New Best Friend.

I've recently been on a mission to be the best me I can be- cue the corny, after school special music.

The biggest part of being the best me, is taking the best care of me I can. I won't get all "self-care-y" on you, yet, but I can tell you one of the first steps I took was buying a satin pillowcase.

Yes, basically a pillowcase is changing my life.

See, once the weather started to get cooler sh*t started going down hill with a quickness. My skin was starting to get dry and crack-y, 1,000 new lines showed up on my face overnight it seemed, and  my hair was getting all dry and staticky. Ugh. I woke up one morning and, swear to goodness, when I looked in the mirror I saw the Crypt Keeper.

It was not great.

Then one day when I was running into the Dollar Tree, (Yes, the Dollar Tree I'm not too proud) I happened to see satin pillowcases. I had always heard that they were better for your hair and skin than a regular cotton pillowcase, and thought to myself what the hell. Plus, it was a $1, so if it sucked oh, well.

I took it home, washed it, and slapped that baby on my favorite pillow. And, because I got a white one I made sure to go to bed with a clean face as to not tarnish my new possession, the improvements were already starting.

  • Prevents more fine lines and wrinkles from developing on your beautiful face. Fabrics such as cotton, flannel, and wool can increase the aging process.
  • Helps clear the complexion by allowing your pores to breathe. Cotton pillowcases can actually draw moisture away from your skin leaving it dryer than when you went to sleep.
  • Keeps the hair in place and prevents frizzy, staticky hair. The satin eliminates the friction caused by more abrasive fabrics-listed above.
  • Protects eyelashes and eyebrows

I noticed the benefits almost immediately. My hair was much smoother and didn't look all F.F. like it usually did, and my face had no weird sheet marks on it, and definitely felt and looked smoother as well.

It's been almost a month and things are just getting better. If you've been on the fence about trying satin pillowcases you definitely have no excuse anymore since you can literally get one for a $1.

It won't change your life entirely, but it can help.
